On 10 October, the second workshop on the Hippolytus statue, initiated by Dr András Handl, will take place in the foyer of the Vatican Library in Leuven and online. The statue is of outstanding importance because of the Greek literature and Easter lists on the cheeks of the chair. It is also piquant that a man's head was placed on the female statue. Therefore, the restoration of the headless statue in the Renaissance is also to be researched .

The highly recommendable journal ACADEMIA (4/2022) of the Cartellverband der katholischen deutschen Studentenverbindungen (Cartel Association of Catholic German Student Fraternities) presents the large volume by Klaus Herbers and Matthias Simperl (picture) on the medieval papal chronicle "Liber Pontificalis" on a full two pages. The volume emerged from a RIGG conference four years ago. In the same ACADEMIA issue, Dr Martin Barth also presents the Görres Society (here, pp. 50-51).

The active history association of the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart is organising a thematically very appealing and rich conference on "Monasteries, Spiritual Women's Communities and Church Foundations from the 19th Century to the Present" from 22 to 24 September in Weingarten Monastery.  Special focus is on the former Cistercian Abbey of Heggbach. The general theme is the massive ups and downs of the orders within two centuries: from the arduous revival of the orders after secularisation to the culmination of expansion before the First World War to the still unstopped rapid decline since the 1960s.

Father Helmut Rakowski, who had been working at the Pontifical Council for Promoting the New Evangelisation since 2013, joined the RIGG in 2017 (in the Political Science Section of the Görres Society). Just one year later, he moved to Munich as spiritual director of the Catholic School of Journalism. Now he was elected Provincial of the German Capuchin Province in Münster. May the Capuchin Order blossom again!
