The Institute

Founded in 1888, the Roman Institute of the Görres Society (RIGG) is the well-known academic centre and foreign institute of the Bonn-based Görres Society.
Donations And Foundation

Pope Francis has appointed Archbishop Agostino Marchetto, a connoisseur and researcher of Vatican II whom he even considers the "più grande ermeneuta del Concilio", as a cardinal. He represents a hermeneutic that Pope Benedict XVI summed up in his address to the Curia on 22 December 2005 as "hermeneutics of reform instead of hermeneutics of rupture".

In 2018, Marchetto took part in a conference organised by the Society for the Study of the History of Councils on the theme "Council and Minority" at the Pontificia Università della Santa Croce and Campo Santo Teutonico, where he spoke on "La minoranza al Vaticano II (1962-1965) secondo il 'Diario' del suo Segretario Generale, Pericle Felici".
