The President of the Görres-Gesellschaft, Prof. Dr Bernd Engler, has appointed Dr Johan Ickx as Vice Director of the Roman Institute of the Görres-Gesellschaft. Ickx succeeds Prof. Dr Johannes Grohe, who has returned to Germany.

Dr Johan Ickx is archivist of the Historical Archives of the Vatican Secretariat of State and an internationally renowned historian. He has mainly focussed on Benedict XV and Pius XII. His online publication of all the documents in the Ebrei series from the Second World War period attracted worldwide attention. 

Flame Ickx has been associated with the Campo Santo Teutonico since the days of Erwin Gatz. He has contributed to several relevant conferences and publications of the RIGG, including
