Cardinal Kurt Koch receives commemorative edition "Unity and Uniqueness"
On 22 March, Curia Cardinal Kurt Koch, Prefect of the Dicastery for Christian Unity, was presented with the commemorative edition ‘Unity and Singleness’ by the publishers. The ceremony took place in the church of Campo Santo Teutonico. Among the 100 participants were Cardinal Emil Tscherrig, Auxiliary Bishop Peter Birkhofer and Swiss Ambassador Manuela Leimgruber.
Cardinal Koch has been a member of the Roman Institute of the Görres Society since 2012 and has given several lectures at its events. The volume that has now been presented to him, published by Herder, also contains a lecture that the cardinal gave at the Görres conference in March last year.
At the presentation of the commemorative volume, Stefan Heid explained the illumination ‘Zug der Getauften zum Kreuz’ (Procession of the Baptised to the Cross) in the famous Reichenau manuscript from around 1000 (now in the Bamberg State Library) as well as the Passion and Easter Way of the Church of the Archconfraternity of Campo Santo Teutonico. Father Augustinus Sander traced the development and intention of the commemorative gift. Father Bernard Sawicki played an original composition on the organ in honour of the Cardinal to the hymn Urbs Ierusalem Beata.
