The March issue of the popular archaeology magazine "Archeo" reports on the front page about the excavations at the Shepherds' Field in Bethlehem, which were started last year by the Franciscan Custody of the Holy Land and the Pontifical Institute for Christian Archaeology and are expected to continue for several years.

On pages 35 to 49 you will find a detailed article on the history of this site, the local landscape and the first excavations carried out by Father Virgilio Corbo in 1934, which are now being continued 90 years later. It is essentially a Byzantine monastery with agricultural activities (wine, oil, wheat).
