The Institute

Founded in 1888, the Roman Institute of the Görres Society (RIGG) is the well-known academic centre and foreign institute of the Bonn-based Görres Society.
Donations And Foundation

Diocesan history in the German-speaking region has always been a focus of Erwin Gatz, director of the RIGG until 2010. We are therefore particularly pleased to draw attention to the conference to be held in Mainz on 10-11 November 2023 on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the founding of the Gesellschaft für mittelrheinische Kirchengeschichte. Among the illustrious speakers are Christoph Kösters, Barbara Wieland, Andreas Holzem, Bernhard Schneider, Jürgen Bärsch, Matthias Kloft and Claus Arnold.
