The Institute

Founded in 1888, the Roman Institute of the Görres Society (RIGG) is the well-known academic centre and foreign institute of the Bonn-based Görres Society.
Donations And Foundation

The Bishop of Augsburg, Dr Bertram Meier, awarded the Diocesan History Promotion Prize of the Association for Augsburg Diocesan History to Dr Georg Kolb for his dissertation on 5 November 2022 in the House of St Ulrich. Kolb evaluated the Vatican archives for his work "The Ad Limina Visits of the Bishops of Augsburg, Eichstätt, Freising and Regensburg (1575-1731)" mainly during his time as a scholarship holder at the Roman Institute of the Görres Society.

The supervisor of his doctorate, Prof. Dr. Dieter Weiß, gave the laudatory speech, and the second examiner, Prof. Dr. Rainald Becker, himself a scholarship holder at the Institute under Erwin Gatz, was also present. Kolb is currently a trainee at the Bavarian Main State Archives.
