Stefan Heid will give a lecture on "Proclaim the Gospel: Strategies of the Early Church to liberate the earth from the demons", as part of the Dahlem Forum Bernhardinum.

Christians have seen themselves in the global struggle against evil, against the devil and demons. The spread of Christianity was not simply the implementation of Christ's command to baptise, but also the continuation of his fight against the tempter and the evil spirits, which had to be pushed back further and further from people's living spaces. In the process, Christians also interpreted their own history and tried to explain why there were persecutions and heresies, for example. This view of the world is perhaps strange to us today, but it also has its fascination and radicality.
