Another book in honour of Cardinal Kurt Koch
Our member Cardinal Kurt Koch, responsible for the ecumenical efforts of the Holy See, is being showered with honours on his 75th birthday. In the past year alone, he received three honorary doctorates in theology.
The dogmatist George Augustin from the University of Vallendar has now published another commemorative volume with Herder Verlag entitled "Gott in die Mitte: Damit Glaube gelingen kann" (God in the Centre: So that Faith May Succeed). The 536-page volume contains 37 contributions by renowned authors, including 20 university professors, seven bishops: Manfred Scheuer, Alois Schwarz,
Heiner Wilmer, Bertram Meier, Peter Kohlgraf, Stefan Oster and Archbishop Nikola Eterovic, and three cardinals: José Tolentino de Mendonca, Walter Kasper and Gerhard Ludwig Müller. As seven professors from the Vincent Pallotti University in Vallendar are involved alongside the editor, this can also be seen as a tribute to the cardinal from the university.
Rome is represented by the cardinals Markus Graulich, Felix Körner SJ and Ralph Weimann, but Achim Buckenmaier and Bertram Meier also have long careers in Rome. Above all, however, the commemorative publication expresses the widespread appreciation of the cardinal in German and Austrian theology.
Topics include: monotheism, the Trinity, proof of God, Nicaea, the Eucharist, priesthood, sacrifice, the Pope, Rome, evangelisation, marriage, the Enlightenment, the environment, Ukraine, ecumenism, language, and others.
Overall, we have succeeded in putting together a balanced, stimulating and diverse collection of contributions that can inspire a wider audience to take an interest in faith.
