Conferences / Cooperations

Debate and dialogue are among the core tasks of the RIGG, the Research Centre of the Görres Society in Rome. With its excellent networks and financial possibilities, it is available to the entire Görres Society, especially to the sections oriented towards historical and cultural history, as a contact partner, for example for conferences. A list of conferences that have already taken place can be found here). Participants usually stay in a hotel close to the Vatican and meet in the Aula of the Campo Santo. The fascinating location in the heart of the Vatican provides the perfect setting for exclusive scientific symposia. Excursions to the little-known surroundings of Rome (Ariccia, Anagni, Ceri, Cerveteri, Viterbo, etc.) can round off the conference programme.

Senior Fellowship (Postdoc)

Students and young researchers, preferably members of the Görres Society, are financially supported for study visits to Rome. As a rule, they receive 500 euros per month as a free grant, for a maximum of two months per year. Support is also paid out to such members who wish to attend conferences of the RIGG. The funds are usually provided by the Foundation for the Promotion of the RIGG.

Doctoral Scholarship / Assistents (Postgraduate)

Assistant's study

Three doctoral fellowships are currently available. The beneficiaries must spend their scholarship in Rome in order to take advantage of the excellent research opportunities there and the educational offers of the RIGG and to get to know Roman culture. The most important task is the preparation of a doctoral thesis under the responsibility of the supervising professor (usually a university professor in Germany or Austria). Preferred subjects are church history and Christian archaeology, but neighbouring disciplines (liturgical history or similar) are not excluded.
